Solution to Puzzle No. 025

You have 12 months, with 19 unique letters. However, since the letters are lowercase, you have the freedom to "flip" the cube over to get the other letter, such as flipping "p" to get "d" and "n" to get "u".

Doing this, you find that you can only get rid of one letter, either the "p" or the "d". You cannot do this with the "n" and "u" since both of them are needed for June (jun).

With that, each month has one vowel. Even August, since you can easily substitute the "n" for the "u". After this step it's mostly logic, since you now have 18 letters.

One of the easiest ways, then, is to start out with the "a" since the "a" cannot be on the same cubes with the most letters (j n m r p y u g). I also determined that putting all the vowels on one cube would be a good start as well.

Cubes for the months:

  1. a, e, l, t, u/n, v
  2. f, g, j, m, o, p/d
  3. b, c, n/u, r, s, y

Cubes for the dates (which is child's play compared to the first part):

  1. 0, 1, 2, 3, 7, 8
  2. 0, 1, 2, 4, 5, 6
