Romberg Visiting Professor 2008 Prof. Hoang Xuan Phu
Prof. Phu was appointed in 2008 as the first Romberg Visiting Professor of the Heidelberg Graduate School of Mathematical and Computational Methods for the Sciences (HGS MathComp). The program was one of three central funding lines of the Excellence Initiative (2005–2017) launched by the German federal and state governments to structure the training of young scientists at German universities and raise its international profile.
With this program, the HGS MathComp invites leading researchers working in a relevant field for a stay of typically two months. The guests invited via the Romberg Program participate in joint research and make substantial contributions to the training program by complementing the teaching done by the members or by disseminating their latest research results at the school.
